The film samples were reacted at room temperature (RT) in an H 2 S atmosphere to produce zinc blend Cd 1−x Zn x S nanocrystals in the channels of mesostructured silica. The initial Zn( II ) and Cd( II ) ion concentrations in the reaction media determine the final composition and band gap of the Cd 1− x Zn x S nanocrystals . Hafnium oxide doped silica films with ordered mesostructures were produced with hafnium:silicon ratios between 1:60 and 1:6. A surfactant–hafnium alkoxide complex was synthesized and used as a template in a sol–gel dip‐coating process.
